Hi @yesletgo !

Welcome to our community! 🤗

Is this what you are looking for?

> **[BQ vector compression | Weaviate - Vector Database](https://weaviate.io/developers/weaviate/configuration/bq-compression)**

> Binary quantization (BQ) is a technique that reduces the size of a vector index. BQ is available for the flat index type from v1.23 onwards and for the hnsw index type from v1.24.

Thanks!

It shouldn’t be what I want. What I mean is whether to support the original vector being binary.

I don’t think this is supported 🤔

Hello!

This is exactly what I would need as well. To bring my own vectors, in binary format. Isn’t it still no support for this?

The mentioned Binary Quantization does much more than what I need.

hi @EdgarPE-CS and @yesletgo !

My suggestion is to open up a feature request here:

> **[Issues · weaviate/weaviate](https://github.com/weaviate/weaviate/issues)**
>
> Weaviate is an open-source vector database that stores both objects and vectors, allowing for the combination of vector search with structured filtering with the fault tolerance and scalability of ...

So we can add it to our roadmap:

> **[Weaviate Core Roadmap | Weaviate - Vector Database](https://weaviate.io/developers/weaviate/roadmap)**
>
> Weaviate is an open source project that is hosted on GitHub. GitHub uses issues to request features and to track projects. This page highlights some of the issues that Weaviate is working on for upcoming releases.

Thanks!
