# Function Calling support with Gemini

Hi. I was wondering if Weaviate supports Function Calling in Gemini ([https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/function-calling](https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/function-calling)) natively?

Hey @cheehow,

It’s lovely to have you here, and welcome to our community.

@antas-marcin I wanted to ask, is this something that can be done natively in general, or is the only option a workaround using Function Calling?

I came across this article: [What is Agentic RAG?](https://weaviate.io/blog/what-is-agentic-rag#language-models-with-function-calling). Would using an external agentic framework (like LangChain or custom code) be a good workaround, or would you not recommend it? Do you have any suggestions?
