Hi, I’ve been looking through the source code of Weaviate (4933970f4), and found that adding a tenant is actually adding a physical shard to a class. A non-multitenant class automatically creates a physical shard with a randomly generated ID, and it is included in the name of the files/directories under the data directory. But with multitenancy, the physical shard name is fixed to the name of tenant. Now, the question is can such class add additional physical shards if a large number of objects are ingested?
Hi @roengram ! Sorry for the delay here!
AFAIK your assumption is right.
By the way, check this recently talk from our CTO, Etienne Dilocker on that subject
Thanks!
