gRPC search failed with message: Deadline Exceeded

Hi Weaviate Support Team,

I hope you are doing well.

I am currently testing my product and noticed an intermittent issue while using Weaviate’s near_vector search functionality. The issue occurred during testing on January 2, 2026 and January 3, 2026 and January 19, 2026

Occasionally, search near_vector requests fail with the following error message:

Query call with protocol gRPC search failed with message: Deadline Exceeded

This behavior is somewhat unexpected to me, as:

  • The number of objects in my collection is relatively small

  • The query rate (RPS) during testing is very low

Because of this, I’m unsure what might be causing the timeout.
I cannot see any logs in the weaviate console. Therefore, I came here to ask for further assistance.

I would greatly appreciate any guidance on potential causes, configuration adjustments, or recommended debugging steps to help resolve this issue.
